The mission of Saint Louis University (SLU) Lupus Research is to raise money for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and childhood arthritis research conducted at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine Division of Rheumatology under the leadership of Dr. Terry Moore. For the last 30 years, Dr. Moore has dedicated his career to finding a cure for SLE and other arthridities. Since his days in medical school, he has studied and researched juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), SLE, and other rheumatic diseases. Due to the spread of AIDS and the need for scientific study of other medical conditions, funding for children's arthritis, SLE, and other related diseases has been drastically cut. Our aim is to annually raise $100,000 to fund Dr. Moore's research. Dr. Moore's Rheumatology Division includes Dr. Moore, Dr. Peri H. Pepmueller, Dr. Rama Bandlamudi, and Dr. Reema Syed, three part-time members, Dr. Deborah Wenkert, Dr. Kathryn Coulson, and Dr. Jack Zuckner, and four fellows in training to be rheumatologists, including two pediatric rheumatology fellows. It has traditionally been rated as one of the top 40 best Rheumatology Divisions.
