Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Housing Selection process?
Housing selection is the annual process where students complete a housing contract and either receive an assignment or select a space for the upcoming academic year.
Where do I complete my housing contract?

Housing contracts are completed on eRezLife, which can be accessed through your mySLU portal.

Do I need to submit a housing contract every year?

Yes. Students must submit a new housing contract each academic year if they plan to live on campus. Our contracts are valid for the fall and spring semesters.

Can I request specific roommates?

Yes. After completing a housing contract, you can create a roommate group on RoomeZ on eRezLife.

Does my housing contract guarantee a specific room, building, or roommate?

The SLU housing contract covers both fall and spring semesters and guarantees a space on campus. However, it does not guarantee a specific building, room type or roommate. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate the preferences you list, but assignments are based on availability at the time of assignment.

Who is required to live on campus?

All undergraduate students are required to live on campus for their first four semesters.

Can I request an exemption from the residency requirement?

Yes. Students can request to be exempt from the residency requirement. Exceptions are considered for the following reasons: you live at home with a parent or guardian within a commutable distance, you are older than 21, you are married, you are a parent, or you are in the military.

Can I cancel my housing contract?

Housing contracts are legally binding, but you may request a contract release in specific situations. You must complete a Contract Release Request form on eRezLife with supporting documentation.
