Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development
The main support structure for the School of Medicine’s Faculty is the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (OFAPD). This Office is dedicated to facilitating the career success and academic advancement of the faculty of Saint Louis University School of Medicine. It also collaborates with a variety of partners to offer opportunities to optimize career development.
Regardless of whether a faculty member’s primary interests are research, education, or clinical care and service, the OFAPD is available to help them to thrive in their career at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
Faculty Assembly
The main governing body for SLU’s School of Medicine faculty is the Faculty Assembly. Its function is to enable the faculty to participate in the shared governance of the School of Medicine (SOM) in an advisory capacity to the Dean. Its goal is to work collaboratively with institutional leaders to strengthen the mission of SOM.
The faculty in the School of Medicine is also represented in the university-wide body for all the faculty at Saint Louis University, the Faculty Senate. It is the primary means by which the faculty members of the University participate in the governance of the University as a whole.
School of Medicine faculty members provide service to the University and their colleagues by volunteering on a variety of committees. Some committees are filled by election, while others are populated by appointment. Faculty elections and committee appointments occur each spring.
